Over the
Easter weekend twelve Solings competed for the Northwest Soling
Championship
on the River Wyre. Hosted by Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club, Race
Officer
Tony Roe and his team provided windward - leeward courses producing
tight
racing and mixed results throughout the fleet. This was demonstrated by
the fact that nearly half of the fleet recorded at least one first
place!
The first
2 races were both won very convincingly by soling newcomer Chris Howarth
helming John Roberts boat. Ultimately though it was the team on GBR 170
helmed by Michael Preston that won through with excellent consistency in
often very light conditions.
First
lady and Youth prizes went to Judith Hewitson sailing on GBR 162.
Thanks were given to the Race Officer, Tony Roe and his team, for a
faultless performance. |
